Not too often do I post my opinion on this site, but today I feel it is a requirement. The state I love, Colorado- is on fire again. Two days ago I saw a plume of smoke on the Northern horizon during one of my neighborhood hikes and the feeling of uneasiness resurfaced. Only a year ago I watched a wall of fire speed down the east facing slopes of Colorado Springs proper and destroy home after home. It was uncontrollable. Mother nature’s fury could only be stopped by her kindness when she provided rain and cooler temperatures. When all was said and done over 250 homes destroyed, 2 fatalities, a burn scar, and a demoralized community. However, we rebuilt, we came together, and we moved forward. The Waldo Canyon corridor was destroyed, but my faith in people was restored.
